——In the fiery mirage, I seek endless poetry to soothe the eyes etched upon the cliff. This short film branches from my earlier mythic narrative. In the film, the fire lizard is a speculative creature carrying a condition referred to as “fire sickness,” in which time and perception are displaced. “Fire sickness” functions as a metaphor for queer bodily politics, pointing to a departure from time structures organized around efficiency, outcome, and reproduction, and removing the body from linear, production-oriented logics of life. The protagonist is a human ghost who died in a vortex. Following the fire lizard into a cavern, they leave human time and enter lizard time. Through this shift, the figure moves across different states of life and environments, gradually entering an ecological relation shaped by instability, mutation, dependency, and failure. Within this relation, the queer body no longer needs to be corrected or proven, but arrives at a calm mode of being through ongoing transformation.
